Overview

Astrion Remote displays the RosCard cards you configure in your Home Assistant dashboard. If cards aren't showing up, it's usually because the remote hasn't been refreshed, the dashboard configuration is incomplete, or there's a version mismatch between firmware and RosCard.

Common causes:

  • Remote not refreshed: Cards won't appear automatically — you must refresh the remote[reference:0]
  • Missing dashboard View: Astrion requires a dedicated View (tab) with RosCard cards[reference:1]
  • Default Home name issue: The default "Home" view may not be recognized[reference:2]
  • Version mismatch: Firmware and RosCard versions must be compatible[reference:3]
  • Entity binding issues: Cards without valid entities won't display

💡 Good News: Most of these issues are easy to fix. Follow the steps below in order — each one addresses a different potential cause.

Step 1 — Refresh the Remote

This is the most common fix and should always be your first step.

1.1 Pull Down from the Top

On your Astrion Remote, place your finger at the top of the screen and pull down to reveal the quick settings panel.

1.2 Tap Refresh

Tap the Refresh button (🔄). This forces the remote to reload the dashboard and RosCard views from Home Assistant[reference:4].

💡 Tip: If you connected the Astrion to Home Assistant before creating the RosCard, the remote will not update automatically. You must manually refresh after adding new cards[reference:5].

Step 2 — Check Dashboard Views

Astrion Remote displays Views (tabs) within a dashboard. If your dashboard has no Views, or if the View is empty, nothing will appear.

2.1 Open Your Dashboard in Home Assistant

Navigate to the dashboard you've configured for your Astrion Remote.

2.2 Verify Views Exist

Make sure your dashboard has at least one View (tab). If you only have the default "Home" view, try adding a new view with a unique name[reference:6].

Dashboard: Astrion └── Views ├── Living Room ← This is a View ├── Media ← This is a View └── Lights ← This is a View

⚠️ Important: The default "Home" view may not be recognized by Astrion. Create a new View with a unique name like "Living Room" or "Astrion"[reference:7].

2.3 Add a View if Needed

Edit Dashboard → Add View. Give it a unique name such as Living Room, Media, or Lights.

Step 3 — Verify Card Entity Binding

Even if a View exists, RosCard cards won't display if they don't have valid entities bound to them.

3.1 Open Each RosCard

In your Home Assistant dashboard, open each RosCard you've added and verify that at least one entity is assigned.

3.2 Check Entity Validity

In Home Assistant, go to Developer Tools → States and search for the entity ID used in your RosCard.

  • If the entity is "unavailable" or "unknown", it cannot be displayed
  • If the entity does not exist, the card will fail to load

3.3 Resave the Card

After making changes, click Save and refresh your Astrion Remote.

Step 4 — Update Firmware and RosCard

Cards may not display if your firmware and RosCard versions are out of sync. This is a known issue that was resolved in version 1.0.31[reference:8].

4.1 Check Astrion Firmware

On your Astrion Remote, go to Settings → About → Software Version. The current stable version is V1.4.0[reference:9].

4.2 Update via OTA

If an update is available (indicated by a red dot), install it via OTA. Ensure the remote is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery.

4.3 Update RosCard via HACS

In Home Assistant, check HACS for RosCard updates. The current version is V1.4.0[reference:10].

⚠️ Important: Please ensure both firmware and RosCard are updated to V1.4.0 for full compatibility[reference:11].

Step 5 — Change Default Home Name

Astrion Remote may not correctly recognize the default "Home" view. This is a known issue that can be resolved by renaming the view[reference:12].

5.1 Open Dashboard Settings

In Home Assistant, open your dashboard and click Edit Dashboard.

5.2 Modify the View Name

Find the View that Astrion should display. If it's named "Home" or "Default", change it to a unique name like "Living Room" or "Astrion"[reference:13].

5.3 Refresh the Remote

Save the changes and refresh your Astrion Remote.

💡 Tip: This issue was resolved in firmware version 1.0.31[reference:14]. If you're on an older version, updating to V1.4.0 should prevent this from happening again.

Step 6 — Clear HA Cache and Restart

If none of the above steps work, clearing the Home Assistant frontend cache and restarting may resolve the issue.

6.1 Clear HA Frontend Cache

Web Browser: Right-click the refresh button → Empty cache and hard reload

HA Companion App: Settings → Companion App → Troubleshooting → Reset frontend cache

6.2 Restart Home Assistant

Go to Settings → System → Restart in Home Assistant.

6.3 Restart Astrion Remote

On your remote, go to Settings → System → Restart.

6.4 Refresh Again

After both devices have restarted, pull down and tap Refresh on your Astrion Remote.

✅ Done! Your RosCard cards should now appear on your Astrion Remote.

Quick Checklist

Use this checklist to quickly rule out the most common causes:

  • Refresh the remote: Pull down and tap Refresh
  • Dashboard View exists: At least one View with a unique name
  • View contains RosCard: At least one RosCard added to the View
  • Entities bound: Each RosCard has valid entities
  • Firmware updated: Astrion firmware V1.4.0 or newer
  • RosCard updated: RosCard V1.4.0 via HACS
  • Default Home renamed: View name is unique (not "Home")
  • HA cache cleared: Browser cache and HA restart
