Astrion Remote Firmware Updates | OTA & RosCard Guide Astrion Remote Firmware V1.4.0 | OTA & RosCard Guide
Skip to Content

Overview

Astrion Remote firmware updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) through the Astrion Launcher. When a new version is available, you'll see a red dot notification next to the version number in the About section of Settings.

Each firmware update includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes. Some updates may also require updating the RosCard components in Home Assistant to access new functionality.

✅ Current Stable Version: V1.4.0 — Released July 2026. Includes stability improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements. V1.5.0 is coming soon with new features!

⚠️ Before You Update

Software updates and RosCard updates go hand in hand. New Astrion Remote software features often require an updated RosCard version to function properly.

  • Check both versions: Always verify both your Astrion Remote software version and RosCard version before updating.
  • Update in the right order: It's recommended to update the Astrion Remote software first, then RosCard, then clear the HA frontend cache.
  • Keep versions aligned: The best compatibility is achieved when both components are on matching recent versions.

⚠️ Critical: If you are upgrading from an older version (e.g., v1.0.35 or earlier), you must resave all existing RosCard cards and rebind all physical shortcut keys after the update.

Step-by-Step Update Guide

Part 1: Update Astrion Remote Software (OTA)

1 Check Current Software Version

On your Astrion Remote, go to Settings → About and note the current Software Version. If you see a red dot next to the version number, an update is available.

2 Connect to Wi-Fi

Ensure your Astrion Remote is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. The update file is downloaded over the internet.

3 Check for Update

Go to Settings → About → Check for Updates. The remote will check for available updates and display any new version.

4 Download and Install

Tap Download to begin. Once complete, the remote will prompt you to Install. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Important: Ensure the remote has at least 50% battery before starting installation. The remote will restart automatically.

Part 2: Update RosCard (HACS)

5 Update RosCard via HACS

Most new software features require an updated RosCard version. For V1.4.0, ensure RosCard is updated to V1.4.0 for full compatibility[reference:2].

  • Open Home Assistant → HACS → Frontend
  • Search for RosCard and check for updates
  • Click Download to install the latest version

6 Clear Home Assistant Frontend Cache

After updating RosCard, you must clear the HA frontend cache for changes to take effect.

  • Web Browser: Right-click the refresh button → Empty cache and hard reload
  • HA Companion App (Android/iOS): Settings → Companion App → Troubleshooting → Reset frontend cache
  • Alternative: Restart Home Assistant completely

7 Refresh Astrion Remote

On your Astrion Remote, pull down from the top of the home screen and tap Refresh to load the updated RosCard views.

✅ Update Complete! Your Astrion Remote and RosCard are now on the latest versions with full compatibility.

Major Version Upgrades

For major version upgrades (e.g., from V1.0.x to V1.1.x or V1.2.x), additional steps may be required to ensure full compatibility.

When a Major Upgrade is Required

  • Internal structure changes — When the underlying card architecture changes
  • New card types — When new RosCard features are introduced
  • Entity ID changes — When the card identification system changes

Major Upgrade Steps

  • Step 1: Update Astrion Remote software via OTA
  • Step 2: Update RosCard via HACS
  • Step 3: Delete and re-add RosCard cards in your Home Assistant dashboard (not just resave)
  • Step 4: Rebind all physical shortcut keys
  • Step 5: Clear HA frontend cache and refresh the remote

⚠️ Important: If you skip the "delete and re-add" step for major upgrades, cards may not display correctly or may show "No matching device" errors. This is because the internal card ID system may have changed.
