UltraBARX Getting Started
Complete guide to setting up your UltraBARX modular desktop command center — from unboxing and QuantumLink™ assembly to power, connectivity, and UltraMate activation.
Welcome to UltraBARX
UltraBARX is more than a desktop controller. It is a modular intelligent workspace that blends physical interaction, contextual automation, and adaptive workflows.
Unlike traditional macro pads or desktop accessories, UltraBARX combines:
- LineOS™ — a dedicated embedded operating system that runs independently of your PC
- QuantumLink™ — a magnetic hardware ecosystem that lets you snap modules together like building blocks
- Intelligent Profiles — workspace configurations that transform your desk for different activities
- Deep integrations — with your computer, smart home platforms, and media services
💡 Why UltraBARX exists: Your desk should adapt to you — not the other way around. UltraBARX gives you a physical interface that changes with your context, so you can stay focused, create faster, and control more with less effort.

QuantumLink™ Assembly
The QuantumLink™ Connection: UltraBARX uses the proprietary QuantumLink™ magnetic contact bus protocol. Modules snap together magnetically, automatically establishing both power and data connections — no cables, no pairing.
⚡ Important: The CoreBAR (7-inch touchscreen) is the computing and communication core of the system. Every setup must include exactly one CoreBAR. You cannot use multiple CoreBARs in a single chain.
Assembly Rules
- Bring an expansion module (KnobKey, DotKey, SenseCube, etc.) close to the magnetic side connector of CoreBAR — the pogo pins will automatically align and snap into place.
-
Maximum modules per CoreBAR:
- Up to 15 general purpose expansion modules (e.g., DotKey, KnobKey)
- Up to 3 VivoCube display modules (these count toward the 15 total)
- Hot swappable: You can attach or detach modules while CoreBAR is powered on. The screen will show a confirmation and the module appears instantly in UltraMate.
✅ Pro Tip: The magnetic connection is strong enough to hold modules securely, but designed to allow easy reconfiguration. Experiment with different module arrangements to find your ideal workspace layout.
Power & Connectivity
Power Inputs
CoreBAR must receive power through its rear USB-C port. Use either:
- A 5V/2A (or higher) USB power adapter (recommended for most setups)
- A high-power USB port on your computer
- DC 12V independent power supply — required when you have more than 3 modules attached (or multiple VivoCubes with displays), to ensure stable power delivery
Both the PC LINK and USB OTG ports support PD 3.0 for flexible powering options.
Data & Network Connections
- PC control (wired): Connect CoreBAR to your computer via the USB-C data cable. This enables UltraMate configuration sync, window control, local keyboard shortcuts, and macro triggers.
- Smart home / ecosystem devices: CoreBAR connects to your local Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz) to talk to Philips Hue, Home Assistant, Spotify Connect, Sonos, and other IP-based services.
📡 Network Tip: For the best experience, ensure CoreBAR and your computer are on the same Wi-Fi network. This enables seamless UltraMate discovery and real-time Profile syncing.
Activation & UltraMate Setup
UltraMate is your configuration hub — it lets you visually design your screen layout, assign macros, and manage all your Profiles. Changes are pushed to CoreBAR instantly.
Initial Setup Steps
1 Download UltraMate
Install the desktop client on your Windows PC or Mac.
Download link will be available here.
