May 23, 2026 — Astrion Remote V1.1.5 delivers a significant upgrade to audio control. This release introduces flexible volume binding for external amplifiers, sound field mode selection (movie, music, surround), and media player remote entity power binding.
These features were driven by community requests, particularly from users with complex home theater setups who needed more granular control over their audio systems.

Flexible Volume Binding: Why It Matters
Before V1.1.5, Astrion's volume control was limited to the media player entity itself. However, many users have complex audio setups where the actual volume is controlled by an external amplifier or AV receiver — not the media player.
Flexible volume binding solves this by allowing users to:
- Bind the remote's physical volume buttons to any Home Assistant entity
- Control external amplifiers, AV receivers, and powered speakers directly
- Maintain separate volume controls for different devices
This is especially useful for users with dedicated stereo amplifiers or home theater receivers who want to control everything from a single remote.
Sound Field Modes
V1.1.5 adds quick access to sound field modes for compatible audio devices:
- Movie mode — Enhanced dialogue and surround effects
- Music mode — Balanced, natural sound for music playback
- Surround mode — Full surround sound immersion
These modes can be triggered directly from the Astrion interface or assigned to physical buttons for one-tap switching.
Media Player Remote Entity Power Binding
This feature allows users to bind power control to remote entities associated with media players. For example, if you have a smart TV connected to a soundbar, you can now control the soundbar's power directly from the Astrion remote without having to navigate to a separate card.
These audio enhancements were directly inspired by community feedback. Robert_P and other users had been requesting flexible volume binding since early 2026, and the team prioritized this feature based on forum discussion activity.
How to Update
V1.1.5 is available via OTA. To update:
- Open the Astrion Launcher
- Go to Settings → System → Firmware Update
- Tap Check for Updates
- Follow the on-screen instructions
