Astrion Pro — Lights & TV Setup
A focused step-by-step guide to set up your Astrion Pro to control smart lights and your TV via Home Assistant. Perfect for getting started with the two most common smart home controls.
Overview
This guide walks you through setting up your Astrion Pro to control smart lights and your TV. We'll cover the entire process from device preparation to physical button mapping, using Philips Hue and Samsung TV as primary examples.
What you'll achieve:
- Control lights (on/off, brightness, color) from the touchscreen
- Use your Astrion Pro like a traditional TV remote (power, volume, direction keys)
- Map physical shortcut buttons for quick scene activation
- Optionally sync your Hue lights to TV content

Step 1 — Confirm Your Devices in Home Assistant
Before you can control anything with Astrion, make sure your devices are already working in Home Assistant.
Philips Hue Lights
1.1 Add the Hue Integration
In Home Assistant: Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → search for Philips Hue.
Follow the prompts to link your Hue Bridge (press the button on the bridge when asked).
1.2 Verify Your Entities
After adding the integration, you should see:
light.*entities for each bulb/stripscene.*entities for Hue scenes (if you have them)
Recommended: Create an Entertainment area in the Hue app for "movie mode" effects — this will allow you to sync lights with TV content later.
Samsung TV
1.3 Add the Samsung TV Integration
In Home Assistant: Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → search for Samsung TV.
Enter your TV's IP address and accept the pairing prompt on the TV.
1.4 Verify Your Entities
Confirm you have:
- A
media_player.*entity for the TV (e.g.,media_player.living_room_samsung_tv) - Optionally
switch.*orremote.*entities depending on your setup
1.5 Test Before You Begin
Before touching Astrion, test that:
- You can turn Hue lights on/off and change brightness from Home Assistant
- You can power on/off and control your Samsung TV from Home Assistant
✅ Ready to proceed? Once both devices work in Home Assistant, you're ready to set up Astrion.
Step 2 — Install Astrion Integration and RosCard
Install the Astrion integration and RosCard dashboard via HACS.
1 Install Astrion Integration
In Home Assistant: HACS → Integrations → Custom repositories → add:

Click Add, then install and restart if prompted.
2 Install RosCard Dashboard
In Home Assistant: HACS → Dashboards → Custom repositories → add:

Step 3 — Create an "Astrion Pro — Lights & TV" Dashboard
Create a dedicated Lovelace dashboard with RosCard cards for your lights and TV.
1 Create the Dashboard
In Home Assistant, go to Lovelace → Dashboards and click Add Dashboard. Name it "Astrion Pro".
2 Add Light Cards
Open your new dashboard in Edit mode → Add Card → search for RosCard.
Add Light cards for each room/zone:
- Entity: Select your Hue
light.*or group (e.g.,light.living_room_lights) - Friendly name: Set a display alias like "Living Room Lights"
- Independent display: Enable for quick-access pages
3 Add TV Card
Add a TV card for your Samsung TV:
- Entity: Your Samsung TV media player (e.g.,
media_player.living_room_samsung_tv) - Bind physical buttons:
- Power → TV on/off
- Vol+ / Vol– → volume
- Direction keys + OK → navigation
- Back/Home → return/home menu
4 (Optional) Add Scene or Automation Buttons
Add buttons that call:
- Hue scenes (
scene.*) - Automations like "Movie Mode" that dim lights and set colors
5 Organize with Views
If you want separate pages on your remote, organize cards into views:
- View 1: "Living Room" — lights, TV
- View 2: "Bedroom" — lights, fan
- View 3: "Scenes" — movie mode, goodnight, etc.
💡 Tip: Arrange cards in the order you want them to appear on your remote. The most frequently used cards should come first.
Step 4 — Connect Astrion Pro to Home Assistant
1 Connect to Wi‑Fi
On your Astrion Pro, power on the remote, set your language, and connect to your Wi‑Fi network.
2 Open the Login Screen
On the main screen, navigate to Login / Connect to Home Assistant.
3 Create a Long‑Lived Access Token
In Home Assistant, go to Profile → Security → Long‑Lived Access Tokens and create a token for Astrion.
4 Enter Connection Details
On your Astrion Pro, enter:
- HA URL: Your Home Assistant URL (local IP or domain)
- Access Token: The token you just created
5 Complete Pairing
The Astrion integration should discover your remote automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing and linking process.
⚠️ Troubleshooting: If the remote is not discovered, ensure both devices are on the same network. The integration uses mDNS for discovery — check that your network allows multicast traffic.
Step 5 — Sync the Dashboard to the Remote
1 Open the Sync Function
On your Astrion Pro, open the Remotios / Sync function (or equivalent in the Astrion UI).
2 Select Your Dashboard
Select the Astrion Pro dashboard you created.
3 Complete the Sync
After sync, you should see:
- Light cards on the home screen or right‑swipe screen
- TV card with media info and button bindings
Test a few buttons to confirm everything works.
💡 Tip: If you make changes to your dashboard in Home Assistant, you'll need to re-sync the remote to see the updates.
Step 6 — Map Physical Buttons for Lights and TV
Configure how physical buttons behave in different contexts.
TV Card Button Bindings
1 Open TV Card Configuration
In Home Assistant, open your TV card configuration.
2 Bind Buttons
Map each physical button to the appropriate TV function:
- Power → TV on/off
- Vol+ / Vol– → volume
- Direction keys + OK → navigation/selection
- Back / Home → return/home
Light / Shortcut Buttons
3 Map Colored Shortcut Keys
Optionally bind colored shortcut keys to:
- Toggle main lights — on/off for a room
- Activate scenes — "Movie", "Night", "Relax"
- Run automations — custom routines
Context‑Specific Button Behavior
4 Configure "Global Buttons"
If you want buttons to behave differently inside the TV interface vs. the light screen, you can:
- Enable "Global Buttons" — uses global shortcut mapping everywhere
- Disable "Global Buttons" — button mappings become context‑specific to the active card
When disabled:
- Inside the TV interface → physical buttons follow TV card mappings
- Outside TV interface → buttons follow global shortcut settings
✅ Your Astrion Pro is now configured! You can tap light cards to toggle, dim, or change colors, and use the TV card like a normal remote for your Samsung TV.
Optional: Sync Hue Lights to TV Content
If you want your lights to react to what's on the TV (Hue "Ambilight" style), you have two options.
Option A — Hue Sync TV App
1 Check TV Compatibility
Generally supported on 2022+ Samsung QLED Q60 or higher.
2 Install and Activate
On your Samsung TV:
- Open Apps → search for Philips Hue
- Install the Hue Sync TV app
- Purchase/activate (one‑time or subscription, depending on region)
- Connect to your Hue Bridge and select an Entertainment area
- Enable auto‑start when TV turns on if desired
💡 Note: This works independently of Home Assistant/Astrion. Astrion still controls on/off, brightness, and scenes, while the Hue Sync app handles color‑matching to video.
Option B — Hue Sync Box
1 If Your TV Doesn't Support the App
If your Samsung model isn't supported by the app, use a Philips Hue Sync Box:
- Connect all HDMI sources (console, streaming stick, etc.) into the Sync Box
- Connect the Sync Box to the TV
- Configure the Sync Box in the Hue app with an Entertainment area
⚠️ Note: This only works with external HDMI sources, not the TV's built‑in apps.
