Charging Issues
If your Astrion Remote isn't charging properly or the battery drains faster than expected, follow this guide to diagnose the issue. We'll help you determine whether the problem is with the charging dock, the USB-C port, or the battery itself.
Overview
Your Astrion Remote HA100 is equipped with a 2000mAh rechargeable lithium battery and charges via the magnetic charging dock. If you're experiencing charging issues, the problem is usually one of the following:
- Charging dock contact issue: The remote isn't properly aligned on the dock
- Power button misrecognition: The button is subtle and may feel unresponsive
- Battery or charging circuit issue: Internal hardware concern
- Excessive battery drain: The remote may not be fully powering off
Don't worry — we'll help you diagnose the exact cause.
💡 Good News: Most charging issues are related to the charging dock contact, which can be easily resolved. The remote's internal battery and charging circuit are usually working correctly.
Step 1 — Try the Hidden USB-C Port
Astrion Remote has a hidden USB-C charging port that can be used to diagnose whether the issue is with the charging dock or the remote itself.
How to Access the USB-C Port
1.1 Locate the Protective Cover
At the bottom of the remote, where the charging pins are located, there is a small protective cover.
1.2 Remove the Cover
Carefully use a small screwdriver or pry tool to gently remove the protective cover. Underneath, you will find a USB-C port.
⚠️ Caution: Be gentle when removing the cover to avoid damaging the remote's housing.
1.3 Charge via USB-C
Connect a standard USB-C cable (from an Android phone charger or similar) to the port and charge the remote.
Diagnose the Result
- ✅ If the remote charges normally via USB-C: The battery and internal charging circuit are working correctly. The issue is most likely related to the charging dock or its contacts.
- ❌ If the remote does not charge via USB-C: The issue is likely with the remote's internal hardware or power management. Please contact Sanytron support for further assistance.
💡 Tip: If the remote charges to 100% via USB-C, this confirms the battery and charging circuit are working correctly. We can then focus on troubleshooting the charging dock.
Step 2 — Power Button Check
Sometimes the remote may appear unresponsive when it's actually working correctly. The power button is subtle and partially hidden for design reasons.
2.1 Locate the Power Button
The power button is located on the right side of the remote. It may feel subtle depending on finger position and hand size.
2.2 Press and Hold
Press the button and hold it for 3-5 seconds until the screen activates. If you don't feel a strong click, try adjusting your finger position.
⚠️ Important: Some users initially struggle to locate the button due to its subtle design. This explains why it can seem unresponsive even when it's functioning correctly. If the remote turns on, the button is working properly.
If possible: A short video showing your attempt to press the power button can help our team diagnose any issues.
Step 3 — Inspect the Charging Dock
If USB-C charging works but the dock doesn't, the issue is likely with the charging dock or its contacts.
What to Check
- Dock alignment: Make sure the remote is properly seated on the dock — you should feel a magnetic "click"
- Charging pins: Check the pins on both the remote and the dock for dirt or debris
- Power source: Ensure the dock is connected to a USB power adapter (5V, 2A recommended)
LED Status on the Charging Dock
The charging dock has a small LED indicator. Here's what it means:
- LED is solid green: The dock has power and is ready. This is the normal state when the dock is connected to power.
- LED is off: The dock is not receiving power — check the USB connection and power adapter.
💡 Important: The LED on the dock does not change color during charging — it remains green as long as the dock has power.
How to Confirm Charging is Actually Happening
- When you place the remote on the dock, a charging animation will appear on the screen
- The battery icon in the top-right corner of the screen will show a lightning bolt indicator
- The battery percentage will increase over time
⚠️ Important: The only way to confirm charging is by checking the screen animation and battery icon, not the LED on the dock.
Test the Dock
3.1 Clean the Contacts
Gently wipe the charging pins on both the remote and the dock with a dry cloth to remove any dust or debris.
3.2 Re-seat the Remote
Remove the remote from the dock and place it back, ensuring proper alignment. Listen for the magnetic "click" that indicates correct seating.
3.3 Monitor the Screen
Watch the screen for the charging animation and check the battery icon in the top-right corner.
⚠️ Important: If the dock charges for a few percent and then stops, this behavior is not expected. This indicates a potential issue with the dock's charging control or contact stability.
Document the Issue
If you're still having issues, please provide photos or a short video showing:
- The remote placed on the charging station when it starts charging
- The moment when charging stops (battery percentage and charging icon)
- The bottom of the remote and the charging pins of the dock
This will help our engineering team identify the root cause.
Step 4 — Check Battery Performance
If the remote charges but the battery drains unusually quickly, this may indicate a power management issue.
Expected Battery Behavior
- Standby (powered off): Battery consumption should be very low
- Standby (screen off): Minimal drain over several days
- Active use: Several hours of screen-on time
Abnormal Battery Drain
⚠️ Important: If your remote drops from 100% to 37% within two days while powered off, this is not normal and should be investigated.
What to Check
- Ensure the remote is completely powered off when not in use
- Check for background processes or apps that may be consuming power
- Verify the remote is running the latest firmware
- If the issue persists, the battery or power management hardware may need attention
Please share your battery drain observations with our support team for further analysis.
Quick Checklist
Use this checklist to quickly rule out the most common causes:
- USB-C test: Charged via hidden USB-C port
- Power button: Pressed and held for 3-5 seconds
- Dock alignment: Remote properly seated with magnetic "click"
- Contacts clean: Wiped charging pins on both remote and dock
- Screen animation: Charging animation appears when docked
- Battery icon: Lightning bolt indicator shows in top-right
- Battery drain: Monitored charge level over time
- Firmware: Updated to latest version
✅ Checked all boxes? If the issue persists, please contact Sanytron support with the diagnostic information.
Still Having Charging Issues?
If you've followed all the steps above and the issue persists, please contact Sanytron support with the following information:
