Why Update?

Regular updates are essential for getting the most out of your Astrion ecosystem. Here's why you should keep both your remote and RosCard up to date:

✅ Current Version: The latest stable version is v1.4.0 for both the Astrion Remote firmware and RosCard. Check your versions below to see if you're up to date.

Part A — Update the Astrion Remote

The Astrion Remote runs on an Android-based system. Software updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) directly to your device.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1 Unlock the Remote

Unlock your Astrion Remote and pull down the notification shade from the top of the screen.

2 Open Settings

Tap the Settings (gear icon) to open the system settings menu.

3 Navigate to About

Scroll to the very bottom of the settings menu and select About.

4 Check Software Version

On the About page, find Software Version. The current version number will be displayed.

Status indicators:

  • ✓ Current — Your software is up to date (green)
  • ● Update Available — A small red dot will appear next to the version number
  • ? — Check your internet connection if version doesn't load

5 Install the Update

If an update is available (red dot present):

  • Tap the version number to begin the update process
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update
  • The remote will restart automatically after the update is installed
  • After restart, check the version again to confirm the update was successful

💡 Tip: Make sure your remote has at least 50% battery before starting an OTA update to prevent interruption. We also recommend being connected to a stable Wi-Fi network during the update.

Part B — Update RosCard via Home Assistant

RosCard is installed as a custom integration in Home Assistant via HACS. Updates are managed through the HACS interface.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1 Open Home Assistant

On your computer or tablet, open your Home Assistant dashboard.

2 Navigate to Astrion Settings

Navigate to your Astrion system's settings page or open HACS → Frontend to find RosCard.

Quick path: HACS → Frontend → RosCard → Check for updates

3 Check for Updates

If an update is available for RosCard, you will see a clear notification or Update button. The button will indicate that a new version is ready to install.

4 Install the Update

Select the update button and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  • HACS will download and install the new version
  • You may need to refresh the frontend after installation (Ctrl+F5 or browser refresh)
  • Optionally, restart Home Assistant to ensure all changes take effect

5 Verify the Update

After updating, check the RosCard version in HACS or the Astrion dashboard to confirm the update was successful. You should see the new version number displayed.

⚠️ Important: After updating RosCard, you may need to re-sync your Astrion Remote (using Remotios / Sync) to ensure the remote uses the updated card configurations.

Troubleshooting

No Update Available but I'm on an Older Version

  • Check your internet connection on the Astrion Remote
  • Verify that the remote can reach the OTA update server
  • Try restarting the remote and checking again
  • Check the community forum for any known update delays

Update Fails or Gets Stuck

  • Ensure your remote has at least 50% battery
  • Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection
  • If the update fails, restart the remote and try again
  • As a last resort, contact support for assistance

RosCard Update Not Showing in HACS

  • Check that HACS is properly installed and configured
  • Verify that the RosCard repository is still added
  • Try refreshing the HACS frontend
  • Check the RosCard GitHub repository for the latest release

Remote Won't Sync After Update

  • Open Remotios / Sync on your Astrion Remote
  • Select your dashboard and sync again
  • If the sync fails, check your Home Assistant connection
  • Restart both the remote and Home Assistant, then try again
