Release Date: January 21, 2026 · Software Version: V1.0.38 · Update Method: OTA
💬 You Asked, We Delivered
V1.0.38 represents a milestone in community-driven product development. This release delivers custom device and scene naming — a feature requested by multiple community members — along with critical binding fixes and crash resolution.
What's New
✏️ Custom Device and Scene Naming
Users can now rename devices and scenes displayed in the Astrion interface:
- Rename any device to match your real-world naming conventions
- Rename scenes and scripts for better discoverability
- Custom names persist even if the underlying Home Assistant entity name changes
This was one of the most frequently requested features in the early days of the community.
🔗 Binding ID Migration
Internal ID system changed from entity_id to card_id to support
custom naming and enable future card-level customization.
🐛 Crash Resolution
Fixed multiple crash scenarios including:
- Crash when binding certain device types
- Crash during fast scrolling in device lists
- Memory management issues with large Home Assistant setups
⚠️ Important Migration Notice: Due to the internal ID change from
entity_id to card_id, all existing card bindings
must be re-saved after updating. This is a one-time migration.
💡 Why the change was necessary: The internal ID migration enabled custom naming without affecting Home Assistant entity IDs, and laid the foundation for future customization features (including V1.4.0's custom button mapping).
